The Manchester Press Club's rich history dating back to 1870...Princess Margeret at the The Manchester Press Club in the 60's

A little bit about Manchester Press Club...

Manchester Press Club was opened in in 1870 in the heart of bustling City Centre Manchester and was originally intended as a drinking establishment for late-finishing journalists, and we are still as popular as ever among the local press and celebrities to this day...possibly our most distinguished guest has been HRH Princess Margaret, who along with other piers regularly attended during the 1960's.
We were also exceptionally priveleged to have Her Royal Highness re-open Manchester Press Club in 1977 after a short period of renovational closure.

Rubbing shoulders

Manchester Press Club has been regularly attended over all these years by the casts of the popular plays and performances from Les Miserables to Cats, Phantom of the Opera to The Lion King from nearby Manchester Opera House. With ITV's Granada only a stones trow away, and BBC Manchester a short walk... we are often visited by all the stars from the latest award winning TV dramas, News and Soap Operas.

Some of our famous members recently spotted in the club include Steve Coogan, Antony Cotton from Coronation Street, Freddie Flintoff and Ricky Hatton. Famous names from the past include Daily Express editor Ted "Strangler" Lewis and Daily Mirror pictures editor George Harrap...
